Success
Coach Carter’s vision for his basketball players was complete, he sees the players being successful on the court, in the classroom, and in life. The team had consecutively won games and nearly finished undefeated. Being under Coach Carter, immediately improved their success with basketball. Developing new skills and plays was the key factor for their success in winning games. The team also experienced success in their academics. As Carter stated, basketball is a privilege, keeping up to date with school work was more important. He made them understand you can’t rely on sports and gave them a vision to graduate to attend college. He had accomplished this task eventually towards the end as six member had passed on to college. Most importantly, being not only their coach but as a mentor he was able to inspire the team in so many aspects.
Failure
Failure was not an option for Coach Carter, what made it more of a challenge was the difficult group of players he had to unity with. By being the bigger person and more straight up, he would overcome most situations that had occurred. The main failure evident in the movie was many players who failed to cooperate with the contract they had signed in the beginning. The team thought as long as they continued their multiple game win steak it was acceptable for them to do as they please. After Coach Carter was notified that the team’s performance in school was below the 2.3 GPA requirement he immediately took action. The team had failed to meet their agreement and dishonor their bargain of the deal. Resulting to the coach place serious consequences such as the lockdown of the court untill they bring their GPA back up.
